Navigating a “World in Danger” – Lessons for a new generation of Transatlantic security leaders

Tuesday, November 17, 2020, 2:00 - 3:00 PM EST // 8:00 - 9:00 PM CET

Join us for a conversation on the future of the Transatlantic security partnership. Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger and Cathryn Clüver Ashbrook will uncover insights and recommendations for a new generation of Transatlantacists who are entering a world of renewed great power competition.

Ambassador Ischinger will draw from the key ideas and concepts of his book World in Danger – Germany and Europe in an Uncertain Time, which was recently released in the US. We will inquire how his experiences as a renowned German career diplomat and Ambassador to the US offer guidance for the challenges ahead. In conversation with acclaimed foreign policy expert Cathryn Clüver Ashbrook, the speakers will analyze the foreign policy implications of a bitterly divided US election and the strained relationship with a Europe that is reluctant to pull its weight on the international stage.

The event will be co-hosted in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut. All events of the virtual German American Conference 2020 are open to the public and free of charge.
