German-American Exchange | Virtual Opportunities and Long-Term Impacts

Monday, October 26, 2020, 5:00 PM EDT

In order to highlight the long-term impacts of German-American exchange, the Bertelsmann Foundation and German-American Partnership Program (GAPP) are hosting a webinar titled “German-American Exchange | Virtual Opportunities and Long-Term Impacts.” This joint webinar — sponsored by the Wunderbar Together initiative — will highlight two projects from both organizations.

First, the Bertelsmann Foundation will officially release its latest animation, “The Power of German-American Exchange”, showcasing the story of Kent Logsdon, a career U.S. diplomat and former Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin. Kent gained his first international experience through a German-American exchange program in high school.

Second, GAPP will deliver a presentation about its German-American Virtual Exchange program (GAVE) and other online learning opportunities for German and American high school teachers and students on both sides of the Atlantic. Following the animation screening and GAVE presentation, we will have a moderated discussion between Kent Logsdon, Carolyn Bradish-Bareilles, and Molly Rowland about their experiences and advice regarding German-American exchanges.

By hosting this webinar for German high school programs in the United States, the Bertelsmann Foundation and GAPP will elucidate the various exchange opportunities currently available despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and deliver key information about the positive long-term impacts of German-American exchange.
