Digital Wanderbus 2021
In 2019, the Goethe-Institut’s Wanderbus was one of the highlights of the Year of German-American friendship and traveled over 25,000 miles across the United States, visiting over 60 schools and universities in the process. In 2020 the Wanderbus got an upgrade, which took it to the virtual skies as it continues its journey around the country! The Digital Wanderbus brings this exciting opportunity to learn about Germany and the German language into the virtual world!
Aboard the 3D Wanderbus, teachers and students around the world can explore topics like German culture, politics, history, and topics in science, including climate change and sustainability. And, of course, the Digital Wanderbus offers games and fun ways to learn about German as well!
From March 15th until December 31st the Digital Wanderbus will “tour” through US cities and their German sister cities. Students and teachers will be invited into our 3D Wanderbus world where they can explore several interactive work stations and connect with fellow students from the other side of the Atlantic. From April until the German Bundestag elections, schools in Germany and the US will also be able to book live sessions with German politicians. Students will get the chance to interview the politician and ask the questions they always wanted to ask.
A field trip to visit the Digital Wanderbus with your students can be part of your German class whether you are teaching in person or online. Each field trip aboard the Digital Wanderbus lasts either 50 or 90 minutes. The program is mainly targeted at high school students with A2 level German skills, but adjustments can be made to accommodate other groups. Field trips on the bus are free of charge, but time slots are limited, so book your slot as early as possible.
In November, the bus will be visiting the following schools:
